Get a Grip - Gifting Ideas

More and more of us are drawn to buying ‘experiences’ when we gift. Apart from the obvious planet-friendly benefits, an experience offers the opportunity to surprise with something unique. A massage is the perfect way to make someone feel cared for, and a thirty or sixty minute treatment voucher is at the same price point (or lower!) than some ‘typical’ luxury gifts. Below are some ideas for swapping out a ‘typical’ gift for an occasion and choosing a massage instead:

Celebrate

When congratulations are in order, why not swap out a bottle of fancy champagne (£45 for a bottle of supermarket Veuve Clicquot - or more in a pub!) for a special card and some quality time with your friendly local massage therapist. New beginnings go hand-in-hand with hard work: that successful job interview was probably the product of a late night or two doing preparation, as was that hard-won degree or exam. A wedding means months of detailed planning. As any mum-to-be or new parent knows, a new baby often comes with new aches, pains and niggles - and almost zero time to do all the old self care practices that would sort them out! While wetting the baby’s head might appeal to some, any new parent would be grateful to a friend who turns up with a tray bake and a massage voucher.

Sympathise

Often the last thing on the to-do list is self-care, and this is especially true when we need it the most. Instead of sending flowers (bouquets posted through the letterbox start around £30) for a bereavement, show your sympathy with a massage voucher. It can be difficult to find time and space to unwind and process grief, and giving someone a half hour of treatment is a way to show you care and are thinking of them during a difficult time.

Housewarming

Welcome someone to their new neighbourhood and buy them a massage with Ariel Moreton at Dragonfly Studio in Sydenham. Moving home is knackering and rather than trying to guess what their new colour scheme might be, help them loosen up after lifting and unpacking all those boxes.

Well wish

We have all dashed into a busy gift shop in the train station, frantically searching the shelves for that one-of-a-kind trinket en route to the party, desperately hoping to find that unique something. Or else scouring the internet for something quirky. A cactus from an online plant shop (£35) or maybe a hand painted ceramic jug (£55) or Moroccan leather slippers (£30) or a posh scented candle (£55). Being great at choosing the right present is a talent: everyone appreciates being fussed over and made to feel special. A massage voucher is a luxurious, sustainable way to gift for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas or any other occasion.

Hopefully this list has given you some inspiration for the next time you want to shower someone with care. Contact arielmoretonmassage@hotmail.com to discuss the right gift for you - and happy gifting!
